FEATURE: "The Red Wheelbarr..." by Anita Dime
No. More like I depend on my red four-wheeler to get me here to
there, and the only glazing over are those straining chickens.
Their eyes peeled back in terror. Wings and bodies bent,
contoured within a space the size of a shoebox. An entire truck
full of their twistedness lurches one car length at a time just
outside my window.
I’m sure the tingling numbness has set in from remaining
motionless within that steely trap for hours.
Sitting in this traffic, inching closer and closer to there, the
place which drains my life away.
Panicky eyes stare frightfully back at me, and I? Wondering what
they see in me.
